Learned a lot about Native Americans today. When you put names and faces to the battles and struggles and massacres that took place back then, history became alive and the emotions became real. I felt an overwhelming amount of sadness walking through this memorial.

The Native Americans fought for what was rightfully theirs and they were more than willing to compromise and be on peaceful grounds. Apparently us Americans broke promises after promises, treaties after treaties, because we wanted land and resources and even more land where and when gold was discovered.

Millions of Native Americans didn’t have to die. And it’s just not death that the Native Americans had to go through – it’s the repeated trauma and pain and hurt and an uncertain future that unfortunately still lives on today. ?
