Notice the layers? Wind, rivers, rain and volcanoes over the course of millions of years led to the creation of these buttes and pinnacles (types of rock formations). At first I thought these formations were weird and I didn’t get it, but once the dots were connected and I began to learn more about this region, my appreciation for the beauty and magnificence of this area exploded.
Who knew South Dakota was home to all of this?
