Driving through Detroit, Michigan

I drove through a random part of Detroit today. It was worse than I thought it would be, though locals say it’s much better than it used to be.

A cop I met in downtown warned me to be careful. He didn’t want me straying outside of Downtown – especially toward night time – because in the wrong neighborhood, I would be ‘fair game.’ “You don’t want to know what I’ve seen.” I asked, “What have you seen?” His response: “You don’t want to know.”

I felt very, very uneasy during this drive. Any car that followed me or tailgated me freaked me out. I lasted only about 15 minutes and immediately retreated to the freeway, which luckily was nearby. I went back to Downtown where I encountered the cop a few hours later.

I did not feel good or safe driving through the South Side of Chicago. Driving through Detroit was on another level.

Anyways! I’ll be back in Downtown tomorrow. Looking forward to grabbing coffee and drinks with a few new SB friends
